PhD Scholarships in Accounting and Finance

Up to three PhD scholarships are offered per year in Accounting and/or Finance. Any area of study will be considered within these disciplines.

Applicants should have:

  • A postgraduate master’s degree from an accredited institution in the UK or overseas with evidence of above-average academic achievement (more than 65% overall in your Masters) and a postgraduate master’s dissertation with distinction (UK equivalent). MBA or master’s students without a dissertation are welcome to apply and should provide evidence of distinction level (UK equivalent). Your official transcript and grading scheme must be provided when you submit your application.
  • An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least 7.0 overall, or the equivalent from our approved list of certificates.

Successful applicants will be expected to contribute to our teaching programmes during their second and third years of the scholarship.

Award

The award will be for three years, subject to satisfactory progress, at the following rates:

  • European Union candidates: standard EU tuition fee plus maintenance fee of £14,000 per year
  • Non-European Union candidates: standard non-EU tuition fee plus maintenance fee of £14,000 per year

Deadline

Applications should be made by 17th April 2016. Shortlisted candidates should expect to attend an interview either in person or on the telephone or via Skype, or to have been interviewed already by a potential supervisor.

Recipients of the scholarships are usually announced approximately 10 May.

Strathclyde Research Studentship Scheme – Student Excellence awards (University)

Under the Strathclyde Research Studentship scheme the University awards around 70 PhD studentships annually for students commencing their postgraduate studies across all 4 Faculties; Business, Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences and Science. The funds are split between Student Excellence Awards (see below), Research Excellence Awards and John Anderson Research Awards. Students successful in the 2016/17 competition will commence studies in October 2016.

The Student Excellence Awards are awarded to students with, or who are expected to obtain, a 1st class honours with an outstanding emerging academic track record, with internal and external recognition and a proven commitment to the field of study.

To qualify for a Falmouth University international scholarship you must be liable to pay tuition fees at the international (non EU) rate. You must also have submitted a course application to study at Falmouth University starting academic year 2016-17. Scholarships are for the fixed amount stated and will be paid in full upon enrolment on an eligible course commencing academic year 2016-17.

Falmouth Global, Vice-Chancellor’s scholarship

This £15,000 scholarship is open to all students on all courses, including undergraduate, postgraduate and foundation. To apply, please complete the application form below. To be selected you will be assessed on your scholarship application statement of 500 words that should explain how you hope to use your study at Falmouth to influence your work, practice and future ambitions.

These £5,000 scholarships are awarded to each of our academic departments. They are open to all students on undergraduate, postgraduate and foundation courses who will be studying within these departments. To apply, please complete the application form below. The 500-word application statement allows you to explain how you hope to use your study at Falmouth to influence your work, practice and future ambitions.

Application deadlines

The deadline for applications is Friday 27 May 2016.

You can apply for more than one of the scholarships available, provided you meet the relevant eligibility criteria.

We will advise you on or before 10 June 2016 if your application is successful. The award will be confirmed once the offer has been confirmed. If you do not hear from us by 10 June 2016 your scholarship application has not been successful.
