The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) doles out soft loans for buying computers
The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has devised a comprehensive plan to dole out free text books among its 34 hundred partner schools in Punjab. Under this plan, the partners will be provided free text books near to them through 14 distribution points across the province. Deputy Managing Director (Finance) Salman Anwar Malik of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) stated this while addressing the computer loan cheques distributionceremony at PEF regional office Multan on Thursday. PEF regional director Shafiq Ahmad, deputy director (Finance) Muneeb Alam and other concerned officers besides a large number of partner school owners attended the ceremony. Addressing the function, PEF DMD (F) Salman Anwar said that computer loan facility has been provided to various private schools partnering with the PEF under phase one to three of New School Program (NSP) in different districts. Under this scheme, a sum of Rs. 50 thousand worth soft loan has been doled out to 28 NSP partner schools in north region while this facility has been extended to 155 NSP partners in 10 different districts of the southern region. He hoped that this facility will help the partners to improve their performance besides giving IT education to their students. PEF regional director Shafiq Ahmad said in his address that PEF is playing a leading role in arranging gratis education for the children of impecunious strata in the southern part of Punjab. Different partner school representatives also spoke on the occasion and thanked PEF for its role in promoting free school education through Public Private Partnership.
