Westminster International Partnership Scholarships

These new scholarships are in recognition of the University’s close ties with countries across the globe.

Amount: Half (50 per cent) tuition fee award.
Eligibility: You must be an international student from one of the countries listed in appendix F (see below) and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree at the University.
Criteria: Minimum Upper Second Class Honours or above and financial need.
Deadline: 17 October 2014

Deadline dates for receipt of applications are as follows:

  • 4 April 2014 for all UK/EU undergraduates unless otherwise stated
  • 25 April 2014 for September 2014 international undergraduate scholarships
  • 25 April 2014 for September 2014 postgraduate scholarships
  • 17 October 2014 for January 2015 postgraduate scholarships

Some scholarships may have a different deadline date than those listed above. Please ensure that you check the deadline dates for individual scholarships.

Once we have received your application, we will acknowledge receipt by email. In cases where an application is received very close to the deadline, students may not get an email of acknowledgement.

The scholarship application process is highly competitive. We receive thousands of applications each year, so please do not assume that application means acceptance. You should also seek other sources of funding in the event that your application is not successful.

Application criteria for scholarships

Academic criteria

Full scholarships, full fee awards, and fee awards of 50 per cent or more of the tuition fee require a First Class Honours degree (or international equivalent) unless otherwise stated.

General criteria

Please note that you can only apply for TWO types of scholarship using the scholarship application form and you will only be considered for the scholarships you select.

  • If you have already obtained a degree in a developed country or by way of a previous scholarship from a developed country you will not be eligible to apply for a full scholarship.
  • If you already have an Equivalent Level Qualification (ELQ) you will not be eligible to apply for a scholarship.
  • If you are a graduate applying for another undergraduate degree or are a Masters graduate applying for a postgraduate programme you are treated as an ELQ student.
  • However, if you are a Masters applicant applying for a postgraduate programme you will be eligible to apply for a postgraduate scholarship if a) you are applying for a PhD scholarship or b) your international Masters qualification is regarded as a UK undergraduate degree equivalent.

Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has cancelled the partnership with two private high schools partnering under Education Voucher Scheme (EVS) in the district of Gujranwalla for illegally selling free text books meant for their students in the market. According to details, the management of two EVS partner schools with the name of Syed Rahnuma Schools sold the 350 text books given to them by Punjab Education Foundation for their students in the market. Upon receiving the complaint, PEF investigated the matter and after verification, the complaint proved as correct. Upon which, the partnership with both the schools has been cancelled, henceforth.

Government of Ireland and Enterprise Partnership Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme 2014

The Irish Research Council has opened the 2014 call for the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme (including associated strategic partner scholarships) and the Enterprise Partnership Scholarship Scheme. The Terms and Conditions for the schemes are available for download at the bottom of this page.

The Council funds excellent researchers across all disciplines and encourages interdisciplinary research and engagement with enterprise.  The Council facilitates the career development of researchers by funding those at an early stage of their research career to associate with established research teams who have achieved international recognition for their work.  The Council aims to support an expertise-driven research system in order to enhance Ireland’s innovation capacity and skills base in a rapidly changing global environment where knowledge is key to economic, social and cultural development.  The Council is further committed to facilitating the integration of Irish researchers in all disciplines within the European Research Area.

Description of scholarships

Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship

Intended to support suitably qualified Research Master’s and Doctoral candidates pursuing or intending to pursue full-time research in any discipline, based in an Irish HEI.

A number of other national organisations partner with the Council and support the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship scheme as a mechanism to deliver on our shared national objectives.  Our strategic funding partners for 2014 include:

– the Conflict Resolution Unit of the Department of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Council, will fund research to examine areas relevant to the work of the Conflict Resolution Unit

– the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, in partnership with the Council, will fund research to examine how to enhance teaching and learning across the entire Higher Education sector

– Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), in partnership with the Council, will fund research to further enhance Ireland’s science awareness/outreach activities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics at primary and secondary education level as well as enhancing the Irish public awareness of the sciences

Enterprise Partnership Postgraduate Scholarship

An innovative initiative where the Council links with an Enterprise Partner to award co-funded Postgraduate Scholarships to highly promising researchers in Ireland. By working closely with an Enterprise Partner, researchers benefit from an enhanced research experience as well as having the opportunity to learn key transferable skills relevant to career formation.

Application process

Applications will only be accepted through the electronic submission system. Please read the ‘Guide for Applicants’ before using the online system. In advance of the e-system, and as an aid to preparing an application, an indicative word document version of the application form is provided below. Academic Supervisor, Referee and (where relevant) Enterprise Mentor forms will be available in due course.

All electronic applications must be submitted via the e-system according to the deadlines listed below.
