A number of candidates appearing in the ongoing Matriculation Annual Examination 2013 on Thursday protested against what they termed refusal by the Lahore Board management to appear in exams according to previous academic sessions.
The students, some of whom were accompanied by their parents gathered outside office of the BISE and alleged that in the ongoing exams they were being “forced” to appear according to new academic session. However, a spokesperson of the BISE Lahore clarified that candidates appearing in the Secondary School Examination were required to appear according to their academic session. He explained that candidates of different academic sessions like 2009-2011, 2010-2012 and 2011-2013 were appearing in the ongoing exam mentioning relevant session of a candidate on the face of the Roll Number slip as well as the question paper had been ensured. He said those appearing as fresh candidates (after failing to pass the exam in previous session) could only attempt papers of ongoing academic session adding the same was properly communicated to each candidate before the exams started. The spokesperson further said candidates belonging to examinations of academic sessions 2009-2011 & 2010-2012 were required to appear in old syllabus and those belonging to 2011-2013 were required to appear in new syllabus. “Before attempting the answers, the candidates are required to carefully study the contents of the question paper and make sure that they are attempting the correct answers which are in accordance with their academic session”, he concluded.
